Men’s Health Week

A lot of you may not know that it is Men’s Health Week. We have teamed up with @lamode_magazine to do something for it. Mental health is a very sensitive subject and should not go untouched by any of us. This blurb and image is from @jimretouch
Be there to listen
Men are ‘supposed to be tough’. Since childhood, the boys have been told, ‘Be tough, be strong, don’t cry like a girl’. The result is they tend to get into their own shell and tend to put off getting any kind of support because they think they’re supposed to be tough, self-reliant, and able to manage pain and take charge of situations. A rise in suicide attempts in men these days clearly indicates how much males tend to go through in terms of managing family, finances, relationships, health, and so on. Doesn’t this imply that we really need a friend or people in our life to talk to?
Even a single person is enough, who is genuinely compassionate and with whom you can talk or share you want to say and speak your heart out ….. and in response, the other person says, ‘Don’t worry everything will be alright, I am there standing by your side and you will do it and you are still doing good.’A simple gesture of compassion and support is enough to lift you up at times and you are able to handle any obnoxious situation you might be going through. Actually, you need someone to genuinely talk and say “It’s all ok”.In this era of social media where we have thousands of virtual friends, the irony is, …… there are times when we don’t have even a single person to be there for you. So let’s be there for someone, maybe for just one person but yes be there for someone.
